A year has passed since the unveiling of this important chapter for Azimut and the Italian builder keepts its promise presenting the two feet extended project of the 50 Magellano set to be unveiled in the coming Genoa boat show. In this new project Azimut embraces green technology not only to the hybrid power which gives a speed of 8 knots, but also in the building of the yacht in infusion resin method, a technology that the Italian builder has been among the first to embrace from the big European builders, the Forest Stewardship Council for the woods used on board, and also for being the smallest boat to get the RINA Green Plus. Interior wise the 50 Magellano is also full of choices, having a four option plan for its lower deck which involves a two or three cabin plan, a studio, sofa area, or laundry room choices. The main deck follows recent demand of an astern galley, and a convivial area by the lower helm. For the tender stowage Azimut takes lessons from its faster boats, making the 50 Magellano the first Explorer yacht to incorporate a tender garage, but further space will be available I think on the bathing platform, and on the flybridge. The hull design follows Bill Dixon advanced Dual Mode semi displacement shape with a deep vee bow, shallow dead rise stern, wide chines, and a distinctive soft middle section. Power will be from twin Cummins 425hp which deliver a 22 knots top speed, an 18 knots cruise, and an economic long range 10 knots giving a 1000 nautical miles before filling back the 3000 litres fuel tank.
www.azimutyachts.com

The Voyager series is not just a new fancy name to some different looking Marlow, but is also a new Explorer Yacht concept which according to its builder features a very efficient semi displacement hull. The 76LR Voyager should also have a bulb and feature pod propulsion. This configuration should give about 30% better speeds and range versus full displacement hulls, and allow for trans oceanic capability without the need of extra fuel tanks. The 76LR Voyager will also have solar panels above the raised pilot house which reduces the need of continuous generator running often associated with this size of yacht. Accommodation is for a main deck with a spacious saloon having a U-shaped galley, and a master stateroom to forward up three steps with full view. Below is the space for a lower deck featuring four staterooms. A galley area is in the companionway allowing guests to prepare coffee or a snack without going to the main deck. To aft is the crew quarters with two cabins and having a lobby equipped with microwave, refrigerator, ice maker, table and lounge. Aft of this is the toy storage area accessed by a large hydraulic door.

The new 66 Bandido was introduced world wide during the recent Dusseldorf boat show and is the smallest and third model of the range. As the bigger and previous Bandido 90 and 75 models, the 66 follows the combination of a trawler design with a yacht style interior which generates a hard to find concept for owners who want rugged working looks outside combined with a luxury filled modern interior. This keeps with an Explorer Yacht philosophy in terms of safety, comfort and fuel efficiency while enjoying long range voyages. The ample interior with two decks and a flybridge creates a spacious and comfort accommodation area, which is available in a three or four cabin layout. Hull number one featured a three guest cabin plan with full beam owners suite, a tender garage, and a crew cabin with lobby aft. Power is from twin MAN 560hp engines.

Technical Data:

LOA - 20.4 m (66.9ft)

Waterline Length - 18.00 m

Beam - 6.00 m

Draft - 1.91 m

Displacement - 75000 kg

Fuel Capacity - 11000 l

Water Capacity - 2000 l

Accommodation - 3 or 4 cabins

Engines - 2 x MAN D2876 LE402 560hp

Propulsion - line shaft drive

Certification - ISO 9001

Kadey-Krogen announces the addition of a completely new project to its fleet of pure full displacement trawler yachts with the 52. Building on the ten year success of the Kadey-Krogen 58, the 52 offers many of the same design elements like a raised pilothouse and spacious living areas. In keeping with the company’s adherence to architectural integrity, the 52 is constructed with entirely new tooling as opposed to the very common industry practice of simply stretching the hull of a smaller model. Like every Kadey-Krogen yacht for nearly twenty years, the 52 will be built at Asia Harbor Yacht Builders in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The fully covered aft deck gives away the live ability of the 52. A feature of every Kadey-Krogen, showing space in the saloon through welded aluminum weather tight doors. Moving forward and to starboard is the gourmet complete galley with a full-size refrigerator. Like her larger sister, the 52 will have a weather-tight Dutch door providing direct access to the galley from the starboard walkway. Port side of the galley are the steps up to the pilothouse with household-like standard risers and treads plus a rock-solid banister for a safe and sure grip at sea. The pilothouse on the 52 accommodates dual helm chairs, rare for this size, allowing both captain and mate great visibility. Owners have the choice of a two or three cabin arrangement, with the master stateroom forward or amidships. The two cabin arrangement enjoys the utility of a large dedicated office space. Two heads are standard with any configuration, and both heads boast an enclosed stall shower. The 52 will be offered in both single and twin engine configurations and will feature Kadey-Krogen’s exclusive counter-faired keel, a design the company pioneered on the 58. This innovative keel design imparts a counter rotation of water flowing into the propeller, canceling some of the propeller induced water rotation. The result is straighter water outflow and improved forward thrust which generates better fuel economy than that of conventional keel designs. Standard power will be provided by a single John Deere continuous duty 231hp engine, with a twin John Deere 121hp available as optional. With 5300 litres of fuel, range is expected to be in excess of 3,000 miles at 7 knots with a top speed of 9.5 knots. Interestingly the company took a customer friendly approach in announcing the Krogen 52 with the builder contacting current owners to see if they were interested in the project, and then showing the a set of plans at the Trawler Fest in Fort Lauderdale. This system seems to have worked well for Kadey-Krogen receiving reservation for the first five hulls. Tooling for the Krogen 52 is expected to complete in late fall of this year, with the first hull arriving in the United States in summer 2011.

Nordhavn follow up their two latest innovative designs, the 56 Motorsailer and the 75 Expedition Yachtfisher, Pacific Asian Enterprises Inc, has once again stretched the boundaries of their trawler line with the introduction of the 78 project, a long-range, contemporary-styled yacht. The Nordhavn 78 will serve to fulfill the needs of the class of boater who wants the proven ocean crossing capabilities of a Nordhavn combined with the sleek lines comprised by typical European style yachts. Key to the design is the emphasis Chief Designer Jeff Leishman has placed on outdoor living, starting with the flybridge. The 78 flybridge will feature a Jacuzzi, wetbar, barbecue and a large open deck area perfect for entertaining. Meanwhile, the foredeck a typical lounging hotspot on most European boats has been designated to be an ideal outdoor chilling space. The cockpit of the 78 has been opened up, too, further enhancing entertaining possibilities. Another draw of the new 78 is that it better segregates the crew from the owners and their guests. Like the entire Nordhavn range with the exception of the 120, the 78 is intended to be operated without a captain. However, Leishman has designed engine room access in the transom so that employed crew can enter the area without impacting company on board. The Nordhavn 78 will come equipped with twin Cummins 425hp engines, have ocean crossing capabilities with a range of three thousand plus of miles and superior fuel efficiency. The interior will feature an updated, modern design aesthetic that includes sumptuous owners’ accommodations and two superb guest rooms all with ensuite heads; crew quarters and off-watch quarters. Although the lines of the N78 will have a European flair, Nordhavn feels the yacht will appeal to international and American markets alike. The project is currently underway with the first hull scheduled to complete in early 2011.
